CHIROPRACTIC WELLNESS
What Is Wellness?
Dr. Lawrence G. Stern, Chiropractor,
Mount Kisco, NY
The word "wellness" has no universally accepted definition, but we should know that it has nothing to do with symptom based or crisis care. Personally, I like the following definition, which has nothing to do with symptoms or initial complaints:
WELLNESS: "An intentional choice of a lifestyle characterized by personal responsibility, self-control, and maximum personal enhancement of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health."
Is this definition different than what you might have thought? Most people view wellness as a destination or as a noun, a thing. In reality, wellness is a verb or an adverb. It is an ongoing process of wellness related choices, moment by moment in your day-to-day activities.
When you start exercising, it is an action of wellness. When you eat more fruits and vegetables, and avoid the typical snacks and fast foods, it is wellness. Wellness is something you do, like going to a chiropractor and taking care of your spinal hygiene. Each and every day we can make better lifestyle choices and include the benefits of wellness in our lives.
How do you create a wellness lifestyle? Well, you first must know where you are coming from. To begin the road to wellness, get a thorough assessment of your current state of wellness from your chiropractor. Or call us at 914-864-2222 to receive your own, individualized Wellness "IQ" Assessment.

The assessment will provide you with your Wellness Quotient or Wellness "IQ", a number value that indicates where your personal level of well-being falls on the wellness continuum scale (see above)! Then work with your chiropractor to develop a recommended action plan that will take you from where you are to your intended target or goal!
What? You don't have a wellness doctor? I think everyone should have at least two doctors; a wellness chiropractor and a sickness/injury doctor.
The first doctor is well versed in natural medicine that can increase your level of well-being regardless of your starting point and helps to empower and enable you to fulfill upon your wellness potential. The second helps a person recover from illness or injury, should the need arise.
Your chiropractor will help you to identify what positive steps to take (which might include any of the following: alternative medicine, holistic healing, detoxification, environmental medicine, whole body nutrition, wellness coaching, preventive measures, proper supplementation, chiropractic techniques, lifestyle activities, natural weight loss, etc.), in order to achieve greater levels of wellness and reach your intended goals.
Implement these wellness actions with consistency and commitment and your life and well-being will unfold as intended!
Wellness is a lifestyle of choices, choose it wisely!
Wellness Pays! Sickness Costs!
